Step 1: How Many Panels do I Need (Vertical Install)?

Measure the width of your window from the inside frame and use the table below to determine how many panels you need if you are hanging them vertically (with a curtain rod or vertical install without a curtain rod)

Note: If your window is 50" or less in height and you want to install the panels sideways (horizontal) without a curtain rod, skip to Step 2b below.

Step 2: Determine the minimum LENGTH you need.

Step 2a: Measuring Length with a Curtain Rod (skip to 2b if NOT using a curtain rod)?

Measure from your curtain rod to the bottom of your window frame. (We recommend placing your rod at least 6 inches above the window.) Then measure how deep your window is. Add these two numbers together and add 1-2 inches — that’s the minimum curtain length you need.

Step 2b: How to Measure Length (No Curtain Rod)

Measure inside your window frame from top to bottom and add 2–3 inches — this is your minimum curtain length. If the panels are significantly longer than your window, fold the extra fabric and clip it together with the blackout magnets for a clean finish.

When not using a curtain rod, panels can be installed vertically or turned sideways (horizontal) for windows 50" in height or shorter.
